UM Scholarship Portal

If a new student wants to be considered for a departmental scholarship, or in the case of a new Montana resident, a renewable scholarship, they should complete the General Application in the UM Scholarship Portal.

The Davidson Honors College Presidential Leadership Scholarship

The Presidential Leadership Scholarship is the University of Montana’s premier academic scholarship, recognizing outstanding talent, academic performance, and contribution to the community. Freshman who wish to apply for the Davidson Honors College Presidential Leadership Scholarship must complete the Davidson Honors College (DHC) Application Form by December 4.

National Merit Scholarship

The University of Montana participates in the National Merit Scholarship Program and offers awards of $2,000 a year to finalists who have indicated UM as their first choice for attending college. Semi-finalists who enroll at UM receive an award of $1,000 a year. Interested students are encouraged to list UM as their first college choice. Army ROTC Scholarship

The University of Montana participates in the Army ROTC Scholarship programs through its Army ROTC unit. To receive an application for a four-year scholarship, contact your high school guidance office. Applications for two and three-year scholarship are available directly for the University of Montana ROTC department. If you have any questions or if you would like to receive an application please contact Army ROTC by calling (406) 243-ARMY (2769), collect calls accepted.

Academic Department Scholarships

Many of UM's academic departments award scholarships to exceptionally talented students. You are encouraged to contact the department of interest by January to find out more about the scholarships and application process or, when available, look and apply for departmental scholarships online. Be sure to plan ahead for deadlines so that you have plenty of time to explore your scholarship options and apply. It's also important that you take advantage of the resources available to you. To ensure that you are getting accurate scholarship information, check with your high school guidance counselor to see if they support a particular online scholarship search. Your local library or bookstore may also have scholarship books to help you find assistance.
