Apply for Residence Life
The Office of Residence Life at provides positive, safe, and inclusive living environments which are an important part of your experience at The University of Montana.
- Housing information will be mailed to you with your acceptance packet. To reserve a room in the residence halls, complete the registration form online and submit a $200 prepayment and a $20 processing fee.
- Lewis and Clark Villages are primarily designed for single students at UM without dependents who will have achieved 60 semester credits at the time of move-in.

As a transfer student, you also have the option to move into the Missoula community if you have earned 30 semester credits. UM provides an Off-Campus Renter Center which assists students with an off-campus housing finder and rental advocacy.
Apply for Financial Aid
The University of Montana understands the importance of funding your education. To be considered for the maximum amount of aid, please submit all application materials and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the priority deadline of February 15. The following steps will prepare you to apply for Financial Aid.
- Apply for and retain a PIN number that will be used as your electronic signature when applying for financial aid. If you are a dependent, you and one of your parents will need a PIN number. The PIN number can be requested when you begin your senior year and will be required as you complete the FAFSA form. A PIN number can be assigned to you at www.pin.ed.gov.
- As soon as possible after January 1, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available from your high school counselor or fill out the form online. Include The University of Montana school code 002536 as one of your college choices on the FAFSA.
- Financial Aid Estimator-ACT has an estimator that allows you to enter information and obtain an estimate of your Expected Family Contribution for financial aid planning purposes.

Scholarship Opportunities
A college education is worth the investment; that’s why The University of Montana awards hundreds of scholarships. You can qualify for UM scholarships based on a combination of your academic history, leadership and work experience, and volunteerism.
The application for undergraduate admission serves as the application for UM entering student scholarships if submitted on or before December 31.
Academic departments at UM also provide scholarship opportunities for incoming transfer students. Please contact you specific department about scholarship opportunities and deadlines.

The Davidson Honors College
The Davidson Honors College provides outstanding undergraduate students with extraordinary educational and cultural opportunities. Honors College students enroll in challenging courses and participate in special experiences outside the classroom that enhance the regular offerings and activities of the University. The Honors College is open to students in any academic major, and offers the intensive learning environment of a small liberal arts and sciences college within a larger research university.

Set Up Your UMConnect Email Account
UMConnect serves as the official means of communication between students and The University of Montana, including information about registration, tuition and fees notifications, urgent announcements, notices from President Engstrom and the UM administration. In addition, UMConnect is an easy way for students to quickly and efficiently correspond with professors and other University personnel.
You may log into CyberBear (personal information section) or OneStop (click on “What is my NetID?”) to locate your NetID and email information.
Students activate their UMConnect accounts using their NetID and password.

Immunizations
As you prepare to attend UM, we want to make you aware of the state of Montana immunization requirements:
two (2) immunizations for Rubella and
two (2) immunizations for Rubeola
You must submit your Pre-Registration Immunization Record form (which will be mailed to you in your acceptance packet), as well as verifiable documentations of your immunizations. Please submit these documents as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition to UM. For more information please call the Curry Health Center at (406) 243-2122.
Orientation
At UM your advising and enrollment process will be personal. You will be contacted by the Office of Enrollment Services about registering for an Orientation Program. All new students, except post-baccalaureate and distance-learning-only students, are required to attend an Orientation. During Orientation you will meet new friends, learn about the social and academic transition from your institution to UM, the services available to you on this campus, and get an idea of what campus life will be like!

Transfer Course Registration
We provide multiple opportunities for Transfer students to register for fall courses, including the opportunity to register for courses before attending your physical on-campus Orientation.

Finalize Admission
The University of Montana does not have a formal acceptance process. We ask that you read all correspondence from UM and pay close attention to deadlines for financial aid, scholarship, residence life, and Orientation.
In order to complete your admissions credentials, you must have official transcript from any college(s) or universities you have attended, complete transcript sent to Enrollment Services-Admissions. Please arrange to have an official, complete transcript(s) sent (with final grades and /or degrees posted) to:

Student Employment and Internship Opportunities
The University of Montana offers many opportunities for student employment. The Student Employment website is designed to allow for you to search and apply online for part-time, on-and off-campus work study, non-work study, and volunteer positions.
Internship Services provides students with comprehensive services and coordination of the internship process.
You can meet with a Career Counselor to discuss your major and career options, resumes, job search, interviewing, etc. Together you can decide what next steps are best for you.
