Students who do not meet the required English language proficiency for full admission but are academically qualified can apply for Conditional Admission.
When students are admitted conditionally they will be required to attend the English Language Institute until they receive the appropriate TOEFL score or a recommendation from the English Language Institute.
International Undergraduate Application
A completed International Undergraduate Application must be submitted either online or by mail with a paper application.
Conditional Admission students are not required to submit an application to the English Language Institute. Only one application is required.
To provide time for evaluation and for notice of acceptance to reach the applicant in a timely manner, the application and required credentials must be received by Enrollment Services-Admissions according to the following deadlines:
Fall Semester – July 15
Spring Semester – December 15
Summer Session – April 15
Application Fee
A non-refundable US$36 online application or US$30 paper application. The fee must be in U.S. currency. Checks and/or money orders should be made payable to The University of Montana.
Secondary School Academic Records
Freshman students must submit official or certified secondary school transcripts listing all courses and grades/marks are required. Additional official certificates may be required to show completion of secondary school.
Transfer students must submit official or certified postsecondary school or university transcripts listing all courses and grades/marks are required.
The transcript must be in the original language accompanied by an English translation. The applicant may make the translation themselves.
The transcript must be sent directly from the secondary school to Enrollment Services-Admissions.
Photocopied, scanned, or emailed copies will not be accepted.
The University of Montana reserves the right to require further verification of all transcripts and academic records submitted by students.
Certificate of Financial Responsibility
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services require that every international student verify the availability of funds to pay for educational and living expense before an I-20 or DS-2019 can be issued.
Applicants are required to complete the Certificate of Financial Responsibility within the application. An official bank statement is also required to accompany the application. Admission will not be considered until the Certificate of Financial Responsibility is completed and accompanied with an official bank statement.
Copy of passport
Applicants are required to submit a photocopy of their passport or other official identification.
