International Baccalaureate (IB)

International Baccalaureate Policy

The University of Montana recognizes IB achievement and awards credit for each Higher Level exam passed with an examination score of four or higher. The University grants credit for Standard Level exams if they are taken as a component of the full Diploma or if they are listed below.

The University of Montana will offer a maximum of 30 credits (sophomore equivalent standing) to all incoming students who have received a Diploma with a score of 30 or better, with no individual exam scores lower than four. These credits will normally be distributed as electives, although students who desire credit for specific UM courses, may petition the applicable department.

General Education and course equivalency credit is granted for the exams listed below as indicated. These credits cannot be used toward upper-division coursework. Enrollment Services-Admissions will provide students with an evaluation of their credits upon receipt of official scores.
